Changes to NSW Planning Portal from 15 May 2023

The NSW Planning Portal has been updated to make managing and lodging regulated building designs much easier.

These changes, which started on May 15, 2023, were implemented to simplify document management for staged developments. The major benefit for NSW builders will be a smoother and more seamless experience for their construction projects.

Changes are applicable to developments that have obtained development approval and hold either a construction certificate or a complying development certificate for projects with a class 2 component.

The remediation case types will remain unaffected by these changes.

The changes include:

A Consolidated 'My Development Sites' Dashboard

With the new changes, a 'My Development Sites' dashboard will be introduced, bringing all construction certificates attached to a development approval or complying development certificate. This feature will be accessible to users with a developer account, providing an overview of projects in one place.

Central Document Repository - 'Building Work Case'

The NSW Planning Portal will introduce a centralised document repository, known as the 'building work case’. This repository will serve as the storage space for all regulated designs and declarations related to the development projects.

Separation of 'Intention to Seek Occupation Certificate' (ITSOC)

The changes will separate the 'intention to seek occupation certificate' (ITSOC) from other processes, specifically, the upload and lodgement of regulated designs. They will also separate the ITSOC from informing NSW Fair Trading about registered building and design practitioners, as well as building work commencement dates.

Free Training

The Department of Planning and Environment is offering free training sessions to familiarise users with the new functionalities. Registration for the training can be found HERE.
